I currently offer lessons in voice, piano, guitar and songwriting to all ages, on a group or one to one basis. I can also record your progress in my small home recording studio (and help you learn to do this yourself!) A friendly, patient teacher with a creative approach, I have a 100% pass rate for pupils taking the ABRSM exams, but exams aren’t for everyone, and this doesn’t always have to be the end goal.

I enjoy working with people on overcoming barriers such as performance nerves and physical tension, and am happy to share my own experiences in the study of breathing techniques, Tai Chi, Qigong, Pilates and the Alexander Technique, all of which I’ve used over the years to help alleviate my own performance nerves and release tension in the body and the voice.

I currently teach from my home studio in Somerset, but I’m also happy to travel for group and workshop style tuition. I also can meet with you online, via Zoom.

A short bio:

I’ve gained a broad experience over the years, as a Rock School tutor, Instrument and Vocal teacher, a Workshop Leader for adults and children, and a Coach for songwriters. I always encourages my students to explore music creatively, and believe that it’s for everybody of any age/skill level to enjoy. During my years in Brighton, I organised and hosted Songwriter Showcase events, featuring several of my students alongside up and coming musicians in the area. I was promoter and editor of The Music Diary, a promotional magazine for live music in the South East. I was also an award winning performer and events promoter for Brighton Festival Fringe.

I have an honours degree in Music with Visual Practice, a diploma in Jazz performance, and many years of experience writing, playing live and recording as a musician, singer and songwriter, performing in many of the key venues and festivals across the UK and on BBC and local radio. As a teacher I also have a certificate in Arts and Aging, and have experience and training in working with people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Writing, singing and performing my own music has always been a catharsis and essential part of my life, and it’s my greatest joy to share this gift of music to others.
